Sadie Sink to Star in O’dessa, a New Rock Opera From Patti Cake$ Director Geremy Jasper

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has found her next movie before she begins filming Season 5 of the hit Netflix series — the rock opera O’dessa from Patti Cake$ director Geremy Jasper.

Set in a post-apocalyptic future, O’dessa follows a farm girl’s epic quest to recover a cherished family heirloom. Her journey leads her to a strange and dangerous city where she meets her one true love, but in order to save his soul, she must put the power of song to the ultimate test and face their destiny together.

In addition to the screenplay, Jasper also wrote and produced original songs with Jason Binnick. Noah Stahl will produce alongside Rodrigo Teixeira of RT Features and Michael Gottwald of the Department of Motion Pictures, while Dan Janvey, Jonathan Montepare, and Lourenço Sant’Anna will executive produce O’dessa after working on Patti Cake$ together.

Searchlight Pictures execs Taylor Friedman and Cornelia Burleigh will oversee the project for the studio, reporting to Katie Goodson-Thomas and DanTram Nguyen. O’dessa is expected to start production in May in Croatia before Sink begins shooting the fifth and final season of Stranger Things.

Sink earned a Critics Choice nomination for her performance as Brendan Fraser‘s estranged daughter in Darren Aronofsky‘s A24 drama The Whale, while Jasper earned DGA and Indie Spirit Award nominations for Patti Cake$, which was one of my favorite films of 2017. WME represents Sink and Jasper, who are managed by Mara Entertainment and Range Media Partners, respectively. Deadline broke the news.
