Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Village Roadshow Pictures have unveiled the 14th annual BloodList, which features the year’s best-unproduced horror and dark genre screenplays while highlighting Fresh Blood selections from new unrepresented voices.
In addition to the 10 feature and pilot scripts below, Brillstein and VRP will commence development on Sophia Baratti‘s script My House in accordance with their commitment to produce one Fresh Blood honoree per year.
“The BloodList is exceptionally valuable for its ability to spotlight scripts from outside the traditional Hollywood ecosystem. Each of this year’s selections is excellent and deserving of the attention and accolades that will inevitably follow. We’re especially thrilled to collaborate with Sophia [on] her film My House,” Village Roadshow EVPs Jillian Apfelbaum and Tristen Tuckfield said in a joint statement.
“The quality of this year’s list absolutely blows me away. We’re so incredibly happy and proud to elevate a new generation of horror voices using the BloodList platform,” added Kailey Marsh, the creator of the BloodList as well as a lit manager/producer at Brillstein.
Marsh will oversee development of My House on behalf of Brillstein, while Nic Gordon will oversee the project on behalf of Village Roadshow.
Little India, which VRP and Brillstein selected for production from 2020’s crop of Fresh Blood screenplays, continues to move forward, having recently attached the award-winning directing duo M.A.Y.O., which is comprised of Priya Sanghvi and Dan Scott Goldstein. In 2021, VRP opted to develop two Fresh Blood entries — holiday slasher On the First Day of Christmas and horror comedy Zero Feet Away — and past BloodList entries that have made it to the big screen include the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ series Severance, Darren Aronofsky‘s Oscar-winning psychological thriller Black Swan, the Brian Cox movie The Autopsy of Jane Doe, Sony’s box office hit The Shallows starring Blake Lively, and Netflix’s acclaimed film His House.
