Nine More Perfect Strangers: Nicole Kidman Returning for Season 2 of Hulu Series Set in Swiss Alps

No, it won’t necessarily be called that, but Nicole Kidman has agreed to return for a second season of Nine Perfect Strangers, and Hulu has wasted no time in surrounding her with some talented co-stars.

The Oscar-winning actress will be joined by Emmy winner Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus), two-time Oscar nominee Liv Ullmann, Triangle of Sadness star Dolly de Leon, Turkish actor Aras Aydin, and Maisie Richardson-Sellers (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). There are, of course, several other key roles still to be cast.

Nine Perfect Strangers found Kidman playing Masha, a mysterious Russian woman who runs a high-end boutique wellness resort in the jungle where she sets out to reinvigorate the lives of her stressed-out guests, who have no idea what’s in store for them. Season 2 is expected to follow a new group of strangers, and naturally, it will take place in a completely opposite setting as Season 1 — that of the Swiss Alps.

Season 1 co-starred Melissa McCarthy, Michael Shannon, Regina Hall, Luke Evans, Bobby Cannavale, Samara Weaving, Melvin Gregg, Grace Van Patten, Tiffany Boone, Manny Jacinto, and Asher Keddie.

Based on the book of the same name by Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers is produced by David E. Kelley Productions, Bruna Papandrea‘s Made Up Stories, Kidman’s Blossom Films, and Fifth Season. Kelley co-wrote the show with co-showrunner John Henry Butterworth, as well as Samantha Strauss. Kidman will also executive produce alongside Kelley and Papandrea.

Debuting in September 2021, Nine Perfect Strangers was originally envisioned as a limited series, but after becoming Hulu’s most-watched Hulu original ever on its premiere day and after five days on the service, execs were anxious to explore the possibility of bringing it back somehow. I’m not sure Season 1 stuck the landing entirely, but I enjoyed watching it thanks to the exceptional cast, so if you haven’t seen it and you’re looking for something to watch, I suggest you check out the trailer below.
