Dave Bautista to Star in My Spy Sequel The Eternal City Alongside Anna Faris

Dave Bautista‘s family-friendly action-comedy My Spy was a much-needed guilty pleasure when it hit Amazon Prime Video in the early days of the pandemic back in June 2020, and now a sequel is finally coming together with Anna Faris and Craig Robinson set to co-star.

My Spy: The Eternal City finds Sophie (Chloe Coleman), now a teenager, as she enlists Bautista’s CIA spook JJ to chaperone her school choir’s trip to Italy, where they become embroiled in an international terrorist plot.

Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong will reprise their roles, and in addition to Faris and Robinson, they’ll be joined by Flula Borg, Billy Barratt, Nicola Correia-Damude, Noah Dalton Danby, Devere Rogers, and Taeho K.

Peter Segal (Tommy Boy) is returning to direct from a script by Jon and Erich Hoeber, though Segal himself came up with the initial story and wrote the latest revisions.

The Eternal City will be produced by Chris Bender and Jake Weiner of Good Fear Content, Jonathan Meisner of Dogbone Entertainment, and Gigi Pritzker of Madison Wells, along with Bautista, Segal, and STX boss Robert Simonds. Production is slated to start in the next week or two.

“We were so delighted with the success of My Spy. It is an absolute privilege to reunite with Pete Segal, Dave Bautista, Chloe Coleman, and the rest of the talented cast and filmmakers, along with some very exciting additions,” Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon and MGM Studios, said in a statement.

“Having Anna, Craig, and Flula join our amazing cast is like a kiss from the comedy Gods,” added Segal, though the director didn’t provide any details regarding their roles.

Bautista currently stars in M. Night Shyamalan‘s thriller Knock at the Cabin, and he’ll soon be seen in his signature role as Drax in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which hits theaters on May 5. Meanwhile, Faris’ recent indie comedy The Estate is now available on VOD.
