Following her acclaimed performances in Waves and the upcoming Bones and All, sources tell Above the Line that Taylor Russell is set to star in an indie movie titled Mother Couch that will pair her with Ewan McGregor and Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn.
Niclas Larsson is directing the film, which is being produced by Scooter Braun‘s SB Films and Lyrical Pictures. Evidence of the project’s existence can be found on the resume of Production Designer Mikael Varhelyi.
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say that prep is currently underway for a shoot in the Carolinas.
Russell is one of Hollywood’s most talented up-and-coming leading ladies, and she’ll soon be seen as the lead in Luca Guadagnino‘s cannibal tale Bones and All, which co-stars Timothée Chalamet and Oscar winner Mark Rylance.
McGregor recently starred in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series on Disney+ and he’ll soon be seen in the Apple TV+ movie Raymond and Ray, in which he and Ethan Hawke play brothers. Additionally, McGregor provides the voice of Sebastian J. Cricket in Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
Burstyn is a legend who recently starred in Netflix’s drama Pieces of a Woman, and she next stars in a new Exorcist movie that sees her reprise her iconic role as Chris MacNeil.
Larsson began his career as an actor but has been directing his own short films and music videos since he was a teen, which eventually led him to enroll at USC’s School of Cinema. At the age of 21, he began winning awards for his acclaimed short film Larrson, which led to him becoming a very successful director of commercials and sharing a space with directors like Spike Jonze and Mike Mills at the renowned production house MJZ. He has made short films for major brands such as Mercedes (In the Long Run) and Vogue (Anna Wintour: The Magic Diner and The Magic Diner Pt. II).
UTA represents Russell, McGregor, and Burstyn, who is also repped by MGMT Entertainment. UTA also reps Larsson along with Range Media Partners.
