The Season 1 finale of HBO’s House of the Dragon has leaked online two days early, sending fans into a frenzy and the network into investigation mode.
HBO execs believe the leak came from a distribution partner in Europe, the Middle East, or Africa, but regardless of who’s ultimately responsible, the network is disappointed.
“We are aware that the tenth episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites. It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA region,” reads a statement from HBO.
“HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet. We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”
HBO is no stranger to high-profile leads, as several Game of Thrones episodes made their way online prior to their official airdates. As a result, HBO stopped offering advance screeners to the press.
Hundreds if not thousands of people working on House of the Dragon and they deserve to have their work seen as it was intended, so if you’re one of those folks searching the torrent sites right now, keep that in mind. The finale is only two days away and should be well worth the wait…
