For Your Consideration: Cate Blanchett Will Have to Fend Off a Pair of Michelles for Best Actress

Welcome to a brand new season of For Your Consideration, the internet’s most beloved awards talk show, hosted by Oscar experts Scott Mantz, Perri Nemiroff, and Jeff Sneider

This week, the gang tackles the Best Actress race, which finds Tár star Cate Blanchett fending off some stiff competition from both Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans). Scott thinks that Yeoh could ride a wave of industry support all the way to the Dolby stage, while Jeff applauds Williams for campaigning as a lead this season, as she could have easily won Best Supporting Actress.

Meanwhile, Perri warns everyone not to sleep on Danielle Deadwyler, whose devastating performance in Till is turning heads, though Jeff is worried that the film’s distributor won’t give it a big enough push.

Elsewhere, the Academy adores past Oscar winners Olivia Colman and Viola Davis, both of whom will be back in contention this year for Empire of Light and The Woman King, respectively, so you can’t count either of them out.

And there are still a couple of contenders whose films have yet to be seen by the FYC hosts, including Carey Mulligan (She Said) and Naomi Ackie, who plays Whitney Houston in I Wanna Dance With Somebody.

Above the Line will be the home of For Your Consideration this season, though all episodes will debut on Perri’s YouTube channel, so be sure to leave a comment with your own thoughts on this year’s Best Actress race. You can follow the gang on Twitter and Instagram at @MovieMantz, @PNemiroff, and @TheInSneider, and if you missed last week’s episode about the Best Picture race, you can catch it right here.

Until next time, we’ll FYC-ya later!
