Kevin Bacon to Star in Amazon Series The Bondsman About an Undead Bounty Hunter Chasing Demons

Golden Globe winner Kevin Bacon has found his next TV series, as he’s set to play an undead bounty hunter in The Bondsman for Blumhouse Television and Amazon’s Prime Video.

Based on an original idea from series creator Grainger David, The Bondsman will find Bacon playing Hub Halloran, a backwoods bounty hunter who comes back from the dead and gets a second chance at life, love, and his musical career, only to find that his resurrection comes with a price — he must now use his skills to hunt down demons and other supernatural creatures.

Erik Oleson, who served as showrunner for Season 2 of Amazon’s Carnival Row, will serve as showrunner on The Bondsman, which scored a straight-to-series order. The drama is envisioned as an eight-episode, half-hour series, and Oleson will executive produce under his CrimeThink banner, which has a deal with the streamer.

David will executive produce alongside Jason Blum and his Blumhouse Television execs Chris McCumber, Jeremy Gold, and Chris Dickie, as well as CrimeThink’s Paul Shapiro. Production won’t begin until the industry’s labor negotiations have been resolved.

The Bondsman doesn’t just serve as Oleson’s return to Amazon, but Bacon’s as well, as he previously starred in its half-hour comedy I Love Dick. The streamer has also had a long relationship with Blumhouse, which is behind its upcoming horror dramedy The Horror of Dolores Roach.

Bacon’s other TV credits include Showtime’s City on a Hill and the serial killer thriller The Following, while David’s short film The Chair screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. He’s represented by Grandview, while Bacon is repped by MGMT.
