Jennifer Lopez and Jharrel Jerome to Star in Wrestling Drama Unstoppable From Ben Affleck’s New Production Co.

Jennifer Lopez and Moonlight star Jharrel Jerome will play mother and son in the sports drama Unstoppable, which tells the inspirational story of one-legged wrestler Anthony Robles.

Billy Goldenberg is set to direct the film, which is being produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s new production company Artists Equity. Deadline broke the news, reporting that Amazon Studios is in talks to acquire the project, which makes sense seeing as the company just produced Affleck’s latest film, Air. Production is expected to start as soon as this summer.

Robles is a three-time All-American wrestler who was born with one leg, but nonetheless persevered and went on to win a national championship at Arizona State. Robles is expected to be heavily involved in the project, which will likely feature Lopez as his endlessly supportive mother, Judy Robles.

Lopez was last seen opposite Josh Duhamel in Shotgun Wedding, which Amazon acquired from Lionsgate. She next stars in the action movie The Mother, which begins streaming on Netflix on May 12. She’s represented by CAA and the Medina Co.

After his breakout performance in the Oscar-winning drama Moonlight, Jerome went on to star in the series adaptation of Stephen King‘s Mr. Mercedes as well as Ava DuVernay‘s acclaimed limited series When They See Us on Netflix, and he next stars in the Amazon series I’m a Virgo, which just premiered at SXSW. He’s repped by UTA and Kipperman Management.

Air chronicles the early years of Nike and reunites BFFs Damon and Affleck, who are joined by Jason Bateman, Marlon Wayans, Chris Tucker, Chris Messina, and Oscar winner Viola Davis. The period film will close this year’s SXSW festival and it will receive a wide theatrical release on April 5 over Easter weekend. I’ve heard great things about the movie, so check out the trailer below.
