Oscars Winners List: Everything Everywhere All at Once Wins Best Picture, Dominates Major Awards

The 95th Academy Awards have wrapped up at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, where A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once led the way, winning seven Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Editing.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the ceremony, which avoided a repeat of The Slap and all other potential controversies, so the Academy didn’t have to rely on its crisis response team after all.

Michelle Yeoh made history as the first-ever Asian woman to win Best Actress, while her co-stars, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis, won Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress. Curtis’ win came at the expense of Angela Bassett‘s regal turn in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, though Curtis has been waiting just as long to win Oscar gold.

Fortunately, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever won an Oscar later in the night for Best Costume Design, making Ruth Carter the first Black woman to win two Academy Awards.

Sarah Polley may not have landed a Best Director nomination, but she was rewarded with an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for her work on Women Talking, which toppled Netflix’s All Quiet on the Western Front, though that formidable German film didn’t go home empty-handed. Edward Berger‘s anti-war drama won four Oscars, including Best International Film, Best Cinematography (James Friend), Best Original Score (Volker Bertelmann), and in a surprise victory, Best Production Design, where it beat both Babylon and Elvis.

EEAAO directors Daniels triumphed over Steven Spielberg for both Best Director and Best Original Screenplay tonight, as the Academy just never embraced The Fabelmans like many (including myself) expected following its People’s Choice Award win at the Toronto International Film Festival. The duo used their Best Original Screenplay speech to thank the teachers who encouraged them as young men.
