For Your Consideration: Is the Best Supporting Actor Race Between Brendan Gleeson and Ke Huy Quan?

Welcome to a brand new episode of For Your Consideration, the internet’s most beloved awards talk show, hosted by Oscar experts Scott Mantz, Perri Nemiroff, and Jeff Sneider

This week, the gang tackles the Best Supporting Actor race, which is shaping up to be a battle between The Banshees of Inisherin star Brendan Gleeson and Everything Everywhere All at Once scene-stealer Ke Huy Quan, who also has a compelling personal narrative working for him this season.

Meanwhile, there seems to be some disagreement between the three FYC hosts as to which supporting actor in The Fabelmans stands the best chance to be nominated this year. Judd Hirsch is quite effective in his limited screen time, but Paul Dano‘s understated performance deserves some love as well. Is there room for both of them this year?

Elsewhere, the gang is high on Brian Tyree Henry‘s turn opposite Jennifer Lawrence in Causeway, though they question whether enough people will watch that quiet drama, especially if Apple gets behind Emancipation star Ben Foster, whose role is said to be akin to that of Michael Fassbender in 12 Years a Slave.

Other possible contenders include Ben Whishaw (Women Talking), Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin), Eddie Redmayne (The Good Nurse), Mark Rylance (Bones and All), Brad Pitt (Babylon), Woody Harrelson (Triangle of Sadness), Micheal Ward (Empire of Light), and the Armageddon Time duo of Anthony Hopkins and Jeremy Strong, not to mention some guy named Tom Hanks (Elvis).

Above the Line will be the home of For Your Consideration this season, though all episodes will debut on Perri’s YouTube channel, so be sure to leave a comment with your own thoughts on this year’s Best Actress race. You can follow the gang on Twitter and Instagram at @MovieMantz, @PNemiroff, and @TheInSneider, and if you missed last week’s episode about the Best Supporting Actress race, you can catch it right here.

Until next time, we’ll FYC-ya later!
