Keanu Reeves has closed a deal to reprise his role as John Wick in Lionsgate’s franchise spinoff Ballerina, which stars Ana de Armas.
The No Time to Die starlet will play a young female assassin seeking revenge against the people who killed her family. The character made a fleeting appearance in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum as a ballerina who is just starting her training to be an assassin.
Ian McShane is set to return as Winston in Ballerina, which Len Wiseman is directing from a script he co-wrote with Shay Hatten. Hatten previously wrote John Wick: Chapter 3 and the upcoming fourth film in the franchise, which is slated to hit theaters in March.
Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, and original John Wick director Chad Stahelski are producing the Lionsgate movie, which is currently in production.
Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s John Wick universe is also poised to expand with the TV series The Continental, which recently moved from Starz to Peacock, where it will begin streaming next year.
