For Your Consideration: Best Supporting Actress Offers an Embarrassment of Riches, But Is There a Frontrunner Yet?

Welcome to a brand new episode of For Your Consideration, the internet’s most beloved awards talk show, hosted by Oscar experts Scott Mantz, Perri Nemiroff, and Jeff Sneider

This week, the gang tackles the Best Supporting Actress race, which is highly competitive this year thanks to an embarrassment of riches, from Jamie Lee Curtis and Stephanie Hsu in Everything Everywhere All at Once to Lashana Lynch and Thuso Mbedu in The Woman King and Jessie Buckley and Claire Foy in Women Talking.

This week, Jeff warns his co-hosts not to sleep on The Whale star Hong Chau, who also does strong work in The Menu, and he also plants a flag for Angela Bassett, who is said to be the standout in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

The gang seems to be in agreement that Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Carey Mulligan (She Said) are both looking good for a nomination, but past Oscar winner Anne Hathaway (Armageddon Time) could play the spoiler, while Dolly De Leon (Triangle of Sadness) is the dark horse to keep an eye on this season.

And there are still a couple of contenders whose films have yet to be seen by the FYC hosts, as Sigourney Weaver and Kate Winslet could emerge from the Avatar sequel as legitimate contenders.

Above the Line will be the home of For Your Consideration this season, though all episodes will debut on Perri’s YouTube channel, so be sure to leave a comment with your own thoughts on this year’s Best Actress race. You can follow the gang on Twitter and Instagram at @MovieMantz, @PNemiroff, and @TheInSneider, and if you missed last week’s episode about the Best Actor race, you can catch it right here.

Until next time, we’ll FYC-ya later!
